Boot into Safe Mode, and try again. If you don't know how to boot into safe mode and can't find it in Windows Help, post again and mention your operating system (Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000, XP).

Mags,

I don't have ME, but here in Windows 95, it's Start>Help. Then I enter "Safe" in the search box and learn how to start in Safe Mode. It's that easy. I'm sure you can do it also.

It's the same for all of those!

So why does it matter what their OS is? You just keep periodically tapping F8 at bootup, and on every single one of them, you'll be given the option to boot into Safe Mode. Not sure if NT4 had a Safe Mode, or if it used F8 to boot into it, but hopefully the number of NT4 boxes still in active use is very, VERY small.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
