Defrag and scan disc

by Jeffgl30 / August 3, 2004 2:33 AM PDT

I can't seem to get either disc defrag or scan disc to work properly. Both try and start but I get an error message that 'Drive contents have changed restarting' or 'Windows or some other programme is writing to the drive' I have nothing else running (as far as I know!) Any help appreciated.

yip got this too!!!

1. Make sure modem is off, as things may be going to hard drive even when not online

2. Disable all programs - ctrl-alt-del then into task mgr and close everything you can

3. Uninstall software (esp. recent installs/downloads) you are not using.

This worked for me but did take few hours.
Hope this helps.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
