Question

Default user profile missing media player link (XP SP3)

Jan 7, 2013 8:41AM PST

I've been sysprepping machines successfully for years but recently had to recreate my base image due to hardware failure. Everything works as it should...EXCEPT...when when a new account is created (using the setup profile i copied to the default user account), the media player link is missing from the Start menu, even though it is in the setup accounts start menu on the base image. I remember addressing this issue years ago when I first started but cannot remember how. Does anyone know how to restore the windows media player icon so that the default user has it in its start menu as it should? Thanks in advance.

Answer
(NT) Wouldn't you just put the link in the folder and "done"?

Default user profile missing media player link (XP SP3)

haha yeah if only it were that easy Happy They sysprep process deletes the media player icon from the start menu of the default user and that is what im struggling with. I could just recreate the shortcut manually post roll-out, but the point of making images is that they dont require manual changes on roll out so im hoping theres a fix that someone remembers! Happy Thanks for your post though.
