I can only comisserate that you have to ponder how far down the rabbit hole you want to go on this one. There are long discussions about this, but let me sum up some of the issues.
1. The mail handler extends into the Office applications like Word and such. What you may think is a small change ripples throughout the system.
2. The use of quick user logon or allowing the user to logon (switch users) further complicated the issue since you can't have two instances of the registry for the Office applications... Wah? An oversight by Microsoft?
I can't offer you any firm solution, but can point you to very long discussions about this. Microsoft has not nailed this one.

My wife and I have seperate user profiles. I like to use Outlook for my default email program and she likes to use Outlook Express. Is there a way to set this up. It seems as though if I set Outlook as my default email program, it changes hers to Outlook too.
Thanks
