Today I have a TV since it can be used for that as well. There is no real reason to avoid either unless there is any concern about color calibration or something else.
Both answers about color and response times are correct. You can get better or worse depending on what you choose.
I've been trying to find somewhere that answers this question for a while without much luck but basically I'm looking at getting an external display for my laptop and I don't know whether to get a dedicated monitor or a TV instead.
Whilst I've been researching this I've found places that say that TV's have a slower response time and and lower contrast whilst other places have said the exact opposite.
So is there any advantage to getting a dedicated monitor over a TV or vice-versa or is there negligible difference these days?
I'd only consider an LED (or LED backlit / edge lit) display
This is the monitor I'm looking at http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005QVZ79C/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE
