Ron, Go to the link below, click on "Troubleshooting", click on Win98 Defrag Problems", and follow the instructions to download & install the "WinME Defrag" program. It is much faster than the Win98 Defrag and it's Free.

The best defragmenter, in my opinion, is Diskeeper, which includes features such as automatic and background defragmentation. However, I don't consider it worth the $30-$50 since the standard Windows defragmenter works just fine for me. If you'd like to replace the Windows defragmenter, though, a good free one is Diskeeper Lite. It lacks the advanced features of Diskeeper, but is still a little better than what Windows has to offer.

Hope this helps,

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
