General discussion

decideing between Samsung LN40A530 and Sharp AQUOS LC-42D65U

Oct 21, 2008 1:27PM PDT

This is my first, so be gentle

Ive looked up tons of info on both the Sharp AQUOS LC-42D65U and the Samsung LN40A530 and the pros and cons of what each does better than the other (Ex. one has 20000:1 and the other 10000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio) and could not fine a diffenent anwser on if those such things make a big differents and I also could not fine the actual pros and cons of the differents in such points (most info i found was just argueing not facts).

So......my question is simply what one would be the best for me.

- I do a fair amount of gaming on a PS3, and watch some blu ray dvds
- I watch alot of dvds, and I am buying a up converting dvd player
- I also will be a advid blu ray watcher when the time is right for me
- I have a bell express vu sat, with 3100 reciever with s video cable but its not HD (i dont think), but planning to upgrade in the future
- I am about 12 feet from the tv spot, and the room is relatively dark, and wide viewing angle is not important

I am particularly interested in the Dynamic Contrast Ratio, 120/60Hz refresh rate, Pixel Response Time, and Anti-Judder (I know nothing about anti-judder, read about it while researching 120/60Hz refresh rate)

Which tv is better suited for me, why are certain points of one tv btter than the other (Ex. Why is 20000:1 better than the 10000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio and if it even matters), and the pros and cons when the to TVs are compared. Please keep in mind these TVs are my only options

Any help would be Great and much Apricated
