Debate schedule

Mar 16, 2004 1:23AM PST

What do the assembled think about a presidential debate schedule. I'd like to see one every few weeks starting right after the conventions. And in October it would be good to see an open format debate, or two, with the candidates directly exchanging questions and counterpoints.

Any other ideas?

Dan

Hi Dan:

If you schedule too many debates, you run the risk of boring people and they won't tune in. My feeling is that 3 or 4 debates is probably enough, depending on the formats. I'd like to see an open format debate too, as long as they use the time to do what they're supposed to do, rather than speechifying and spending the first 20 minutes thanking whoever for the opportunity to speak.

Good idea Dan, but as Josh put it, too many debates might get boring.

Maybe if they sprinkle a few baseball debates in there it would'nt get too boring. Happy

Don't get mad at me now Dan, you asked for other ideas.

They could use a third wheel in a debate.

Too bad they don't do it with seconds, each person having another with them to toss in on it, or to defer some replies to.
