The pen was not in her hand...purely a fictional piece....so why is it worthy of a read and any commentary at all? Well, the writer has to make a buck, I suppose, even if he's got no truthful material to offer.

Certainly outrageous but some is probably close (not the long leg part - the zinger and potshots part).
What I find funny is that it's OK for you to make fun of or attack anything on the left but you get outraged when someone does the same thing on the right. You remind me of the radical Muslims that want to kill the cartoonist that made cartoons of Mohammed but think it's OK to make cartoons of Christians or Jews.
Diana
Just making the point that Canada has laws against exercising free speech, yet they seem capable of violating those laws willy-nilly depending ONLY on political correctness.
I don 't give a crap what the guy writes, but he'd better be careful in Canada... your radical muslim concept is totally off the mark.
I didn't think the piece was very funny, not because I am a Coulter fan (I'm not) but because it seemed rather lame and obvious. Thus, the "stupidity laws" comment.
Tell me where I've made fun fun of anything on left and get outraged if when someone does the same thing on the right? In fact, tell me where I've even used the terms "left" and "right" in any post? Possibly you've just made this post under the wrong person's name. No harm done but your comment to me is another piece of pure fiction. ![]()
another couple of posts that got "flaxed," turning the discussion into hash.
Good work, whoever.
I know pruning makes for healthier trees but too bad grafting isn't possible here.
when posts are randomly deleted for no good reason. There WAS a train of thought there that's been derailed.
Makes the forum almost impossible to follow.
can't figure out why (known) pure fiction about real people should get anyone's dander up....or why anyone can write it and then find a publisher....or why another would agree to it's accuracy and want to pass it along. If news folks don't get the 1st person account of the story they want, it doesn't seem to stop them from writing it on a slow news day.
or so It seemed to me. Some people are impressed by pointless things.
And there are deadlines to be met.
I can't help but wonder what the reaction would have been if he had written an article about Michelle Obama and used the words surgically enhanced face of someone in her 20s, my little black dress, and my saucy knee-high boots.
....feeling like a radical Muslim today and would like to kill someone. Quite hiding in the back there, step right up, let it out, tell us how you REALLY feel.
Now I don't like the National Post. It's not quite a Rupert Murdoch rag, but its extreme conservative horse **** is tiresome. It was founded by Conrad Black who was on trial in Chicago for unethical business practices. I assume they finally convicted him.
Rex is an honest Libertarian whose values on free speech are fixed and immutable. I think he bends over backwards to cut pretty unpleasant people like Ann Coulter some slack, but at least it's a principled stand.

...... to do what she does. That is what sets her apart from other women writers. She might not b able to compete with them if journalistic talent was the criteria for excellence. Either she found her niche, or it found for her. It s how she makes her living.
As the old saying goes, "It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it!" Why? Because I believe it is important to know what those at the extreme edges think or express. I think that is why our local universities often schedule controversial speakers.
It's like watching TV. We are free to not watch. Coulter seems to appeals to those who share her views so those who don't find her valuable are free to not read or listen to her.
I suspect her publishers are happy at all of the free publicity she generates. Just look at all of the space she has captured. gere.
Angeline
I'm sure she didn't start out as a "Don Rickles" of political editorializing, but she has sure found out that the more snarky she gets publicly... the more publicity she receives (not to mention books she sells)
I love your SOP of diluting the discussion by saying, "Yeah, but what about everyone else?" This thread is not about everyone else. This thread is about Coulter.
I'm sure your familiar whith the parental phrase or some variation of it... "If all your friends jumped off a bridge does that mean you have to do it too?"
Of course my Mum, never anticipated that I would discover Bungee jumping when she used that phrase with me back in the 60's.![]()

The rest of your blather is just that, blather.
..... write about the news, not make it.
I don't personally know her, so there is no way to determine if I wold or would not like her. However, I do not like the practice of insulting others. IMO, it is possible that those who rely on outrageous rhetoric use that as an ego builder by covering their lack of insight into issues.
Angeline
Maureen Dowd, Rachel Maddow... many others.
Mostly on the left "insulting" those on the right.
It just may be that she has as much or maybe a lot MORE insight into issues than you do. Just a thought.
How can anyone insult someone...since you believe in free speech?
"I am heartsick...."
To be heartsick you have to have a heart.
