Resolved Question

Deals Forum

I'm not sure, so asking. Is the Deals forum an official spam allowed forum? Normally I ignore it, but lately it's been getting hit so much it forces many requesting help on other forums off the Realtime listing quickly, often before those are even seen by helpers. Is there some way the Deals forum could NOT appear in the Realtime listings, and leave that just for the help requested forums?

It's the holidays so the uptick inactivity in Deals forum...

In reply to: Deals Forum

is definitely up. I rather have folks post deals there than flooding the rest of the forums. Once the holidays are over, I'm sure the traffic on these type of post will drop off. We are a bit more liberal in moderating that forum so long as those people don't overstep the bounds and start posting in the general forums, we will allow it stand. However I do see some usually suspect that are abusing the Deals forum and I will take some action against them.

Let me give some thoughts around this forum and the revisit the rules in the new year, hopefully we can figure were there can be a balance and keep abuse to a minimal. Maybe even having to allow people filter out specific forums in RTA listing as you suggested.

Thanks James and Steven for the feedback!

Happy Holidays to you all!

That would be great

"Maybe even having to allow people filter out specific forums in RTA listing as you suggested."

You could toss Speakeasy off the Real Time List too, I've heard numerous complaints about it showing up there and some thread from there can become long quickly and do push the "help needed" off, like the "Deals" has been doing, especially of late.

I'd agree and more

I don't see use for it at all and wouldn't miss it if gone. I suppose folks who'd want deal alerts sent to their phones might find it worthwhile but I don't live that way. Deals come and go daily or even hourly while forum discussions can be active for weeks. Surely there must have been some reason it was added but I'd surely like to hear that reason and who it was supposed to attract.

You're seeing it right.

It's the only forum where spam like product deals are allowed. There are some rules in place (not getting into that for reasons) so it only seems to hit real time for short periods.

Thanks for asking about it.
