Question

Dead Toshiba L655

Sep 7, 2015 7:20PM PDT

The unit is completely dead - two LEDs in the front are shining brightly but no sound at all - fans etc. The on/off does nothing. If I unplug the power adaptor both lights go out. Am trying to repair for a senior citizen. Am ready to put a volt meter on the connector to see that the power adaptor juice is getting to the board - but after that I will be at a loss.

is the battery dead?

When I remove the battery and connect the power adaptor, then only one LED lights up - the first one. Still the on/off does nothing. No sounds. At least the power indicator lights - so I think the juice is getting in (ie: the brick works and unit sees power) but not even a momentary fan noise.

is the CPU embedded on that laptop? Hard to tell from this video at 8:45 into it.

Did they have crashes happening before it died? Or just suddenly quit with no prior signs of impending failure?
