Dead Motherboard...need replacement

by RUNurse / September 18, 2009 4:01 PM PDT

Hello all!

Well it finally happened, my 6 year old ASUS P4P800SE motherboard is DEAD!!! *tear* *sniffle*

With this said, I have a problem. I need to replace the MB with one that is compatable with:
1) AGP Video Card (NEW 512mb)
2) A regular Pentium 4 2.6 (I believe) chip

everything else should be fine; 2 HDD, 2gb 7200 RAM a DVD-R, back fan, new 400+Mhz power supply...

I know that the exact same board is discontinued and can only be found used on E-bay. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what kind and where can I get a replacement board??

I do not have any money to get a new chip or video card so I can't upgrade to anything that supports PCI or PCI-express.

Thank you all

will be about as close as you'll get but you won't be able to use the RAM or video card. Your processor will be socket 478 and that's about all you can salvage as far as what plugs into the MB. The PS should be fine if it's 400 watts...you said Mhz but I think you meant watts. The MB uses DDR2 RAM and you have DDR. DDR2 is much cheaper than DDR and you can find an inexpensive PCI express video card as well. Otherwise, you're looking for used parts. ASUS is, IMO, an outstanding brand. You might check with a local builder who's taken in something on a trade in basis rather than spend money on new parts.
