Question

Dead Mobo?

Apr 25, 2020 8:10PM PDT

Hello all. Recently I was playing a game when all of a sudden it shut off. No warning or anything. Won’t turn back on, disconnected everything, did paperclip test, worked like a charm. Start plugging everything back in, now it suddenly won’t work. Take everything out, won’t work, but after a few minutes I turn on the PSU, boom, fan spinning away. I plugged in everything except the cpu & mobo (8&24pin) and and started up like a charm. As soon as i hook in the cpu, shuts off, and dies for the next few minutes. Do I need to get a new mobo?

Specs:
Processor- i7-479
Mobo- Msi z97 pc mate atx
Psu- evga 500 bronze

Any help would be appreciated, because I’m mostly clueless about computers, and I’ve only gotten this far on forums and stuff.
