Dead iPod due to charging?

I've had my 60GB Video iPod for about a year and have had no problems with it until yesterday. While on vacation, I charged it with an iGO charger (from Radio Shack)with an A61 adapter at the motel(my daughter charges her Nano with it often). It was on a while (an hour?) and when I touched it, it was hot. I took it off of the charger. Although it was half charged before I plugged it in, it was now in the red zone. It was also frozen. After several attempts at holding down the middle and menu button, it finally went off (or maybe it just finally died???)

When I came home, I plugged it into my stereo's docking station to charge it... no such luck over 12 hours later. I tried to hook it up to the computer (a PC-Windows)...iTunes doesn't even recognize that it is plugged into my computer (I tried two different cables)

What do I do now???
