Dead computer

Jun 25, 2005 1:11AM PDT

I don't know how I did it or even if I did do it. The printer on my kids' HP Pavilion was acting weird so I decided to disconnect and reconnect it and hope to reinstall it that way.

So I disconnected the cord from the printer side, shut down the computer from the Start menu and now it will not start at all. The light on the front is off and hitting the power button does nothing.

It acts as though it's not plugged in. I've tried plugging it in to other receptacles to no avail. I also switched out the power cord in case that was the problem. There is a little green light on the back which is on, making me think it is getting juice. Nothing else is on, no fans, nothing. Maybe the switch is dead?

Any ideas before I take it in for service? Thanks.

that the green light is for the ethernet port, correct me if im wrong, yeah, thats odd how it wont start up. if it has nothing to do with power and you've tried everything you thought of, IMO i would take it to customer service

My son (11) just told me...

"Oh yeah, it did that this morning. I had to push the button about 20 times to get it to start."

I'm thinking they probably mashed the button so hard that they broke the switch. Into service on Monday.

I just walked into the computer room and there's my daughter on the computer. "How'd you get it started?" I asked.
"I just pushed the button."

Aaarrgh!

Maybe it needed a rest. I'll watch it.
