Data transfer problems!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not know how to transfer data between a new computer and an old one. Both XP. Have a USB data transfer cable. Go to File Transfer Wizard thing and doesn't work. How do I do it? I need help please!!!!!

I find using a USB

portable or flash drive to transfer data from one computer to another works very well.

I reload from my backups. My "Backups" are copies on CDs and flash drives.

Use the File and Settings Transfer Wizard you would probably be best with a serial cable, this uses the 36 way serial port on both computers.

It does mention a LAN cable, that's an RJ45 jack and socket, but not all boards have that connection, whilst they DO have the 36 pin COM port.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
