data transfer from pc to pc

Dec 12, 2003 10:25PM PST

looking for guidance to copy data files (word processing, etc.) from my windows 98 pc to my new XP pc the easiest way. the windows pc only has a CD-ROM (no RW) and the usb is not working (i don't know if it was never properly connected, etc.), so i assume i will have to use one of the other ports (parallel). please let me know what to do. there are too many files to do this by floppies.
thanks.
