Maybe. You only know after you tried.

The longer ago and the more you did on that disk after the deletion, the smaller the chance. So if it's serious, stop using that PC immediately, take the disk out, put it in an external enclosure and try the usual tools on another PC.

Success Rate?

In reply to: Re: data recovery

Does the success rate of recovering deleted photos depend on how long the PC has been used? Can the tools be installed on the same PC i.e on different drive?

Tools can be installed on the same drive,

In reply to: Success Rate?

but that is not advisable.
Install to a different drive if possible.
Yes, the longer the PC has been in use since the photos were deleted, the chances of successful recovery are diminished.

There are plenty of Recovery programs out there with a free trial. Download some and see what they can recover for you

Which tool to choose from?

In reply to: Tools can be installed on the same drive,

Thanks for the reply.

Would be really helpful if you suggest me recovery programs which can be used to do the same. Happen to Google out some recovery tools, but my mind is crossed on which one to select from, since all promise 100% data recovery. An experienced reply will be really grateful.

Finally Something Beneficial

In reply to: My advice.

Happen to look out for recovering deleted pictures and landed on this page:
http://www.hi5software.com/windows/recover-deleted-multimedia-files.html

It sure is promising, where in I can also recover my videos or music data that was deleted from my PC. Installed and initiated the software, happen to get back my deleted photos in few minutes. The page says that the software can also be used for general file recovery. Seems like hard work paid of eventually.

Cheers...

Use portable recovery software.

In reply to: Data Recovery

Your first port of call should be the portable version of Recuva, it's free and easy to use and does a reasonably good job. Download it to a secondary drive such as a USB flash drive and execute it from there. You will also want to make sure the secondary drive is big enough to store your files as this will be the drive you recover to.
