"Data error" with Sony DCR-DVD92

Aug 9, 2005 7:47AM PDT

I'm trying to use my camcorder to do a video 'onboard' on my bike.
Everything is right, but a few seconds after start moving, an error came up "data error" (in spanish: "Error de datos") and the record stops.

I tought this probles is due to vibrations, but today I record with my camcorder moving it strongly with my hand, and it records ok for more than one minute util I stop the recording.

What happends in the bike !!!!

Any suggestion?

THERE IS NO WAY you can use a DVD camera to do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TAKE IT BACK and get a MINIDV camera.
DVD cameras are VERY senistive to vibration!!!!!!!! John

I thought that, and try to record moving it veri fast in my hand. No problem. It records ok for more than 1 minute.

If vibrations are a problems it should stop, didn't it?

I agree.

You need some extreme antishock and antivibration mounting.

Or switch to miniDV tape which can take the vibes.

Sony DCR-DVD92

Purchased this camera today. Within 15 minutes we recorded 6 1/2 minutes of movie, watched it on TV and felt we purchased a camera that meets, if not exceeds, our expectations. Spent $550 and came with everything (except disc) needed to get started. Pleased with the camera & performance 100%! Now we decided to get the tripod for it---21" min. to 56 " max. for about $50.00 We are aware there are better quality cameras available (like the 30G hard drive INTERNAL) but again, for our purpose, the DCR-DVD92 meets all our expectations and performed remarkably easy both making home movies and viewing on TV thru our DVD player. Happy with our decision!!!!!!!

Write back soon when it stops working and SONY won't back their product. Your opinion will have changed dramatically.
