dark TV screen

Sep 10, 2005 9:22AM PDT

Hi all- I have a 36' Toshiba HDTV with TiVo and a cable box set up; over the last week, I've noticed the picture getting progressively darker, requiring me to turn the brightness up to 100% (prior to this 75% was fine. ) Its dark on all "line ins" ie the DVD player as well. The TV is only 3 years old - can it be going already?

eghad!

I don't know if eghad is even a word, but it doesn't matter. Getting darker and darker? Is it just with the cable channels, or do you have another thing to plug in. maybe check those.... If they work fine, complain to the cable company and tell them your playing 30-50 dollars for these channels and you want to actually see them! If the DVD's or what ever doesn't work I would maybe try messing with the TV settings, but what scares me is that it just keep getting darker and darker, but do mess with the modes that the TV plays in, like mine has a Sports View which is ultra-bright and then weak signal is ultra-dark. Good Luck!

calibrating HDTV?
Sep 13, 2005 9:49PM PDT

I think I will call Toshiba; in the mean time, would it be worth it to recalibrate it with one of the DIY DVD's like Avia? Should I change the factory settings?
