Damned, Dirty Cables!!!

Nov 29, 2005 1:34AM PST

Ok, I have a sharp LCD and got DVI Monster cabling hooking up my tv and my cable...no problem. BUT I want to buy an upscaling DVD player and will need to get HDMI cabling for it. My question is, is Monster that much of a difference when it comes to sending digital signals? I mean, it is digital and not analog so I am thinking that Monster cables are subsequently less important. Or maybe I am just justifying the damn near 100 dollar difference in price. In any event what do you guys think. Ive heard that Monster digital cables are foobar (Saving Pvt Ryan reference).

I went with an AR hdmi cable on my upconverting dvd player and the picture quality is fine. You're typically paying for more sheilding in higher end cables and if that's important to you then pay for the more expensive cable. The higher end AR cables are comparable to what Monster offers and they are cheaper.

Monsters overpriced

My A/V dealer is an aerospace engineer and poo-poohs over concern of differences only test equipment can measure. He has Monster as a slave to what the public expects to see due to aggressive advertising. I am not familiar with the referenced site. If Googling to true high end sites you'll realize the self-indulgent with more money than brains can spend thousands on just the cables/connections.

Enjoy!
