This one unfolded in Tyler, Texas yesterday. David Hernandez Arroyo was in the middle of a bitter child support dispute. As his ex-wife arrived at the courthouse yesterday Arroyo was waiting with an AK-47. He killed her with is first shots and then aimed for and shot his son. At that point Mark Wilson happened on the scene. Mark Wilson is a civilian. He wasn't a law enforcement officer. Mark Wilson did, however, have a gun on him. Wilson started firing at Arroyo as Arroyo was trying to finish his son off. Wilson was killed in the exchange. Another civilian with a gun started firing at Arroyo, who ran to his pickup and fled. Arroyo was cornered by police a short time later and killed.

Arroyo's son is alive today. He's alive because a civilian with a gun intervened. This is just one of the instances yesterday where a civilian with a gun saved either his life or someone else's. You won't see most of these stories on the air. The Tyler story will probably make it to the news because it is too sensational to be ignored. Watch for the role of the civilian to be minimized.

i totally agree i never leave home without mine

independence from England with pea shooters. Don't even think about taking my gun because of what some nut in Texas did.

How about using the 'Let's take 'em all away' idea when someone runs his car into a crowd.

How about collecting all knives when someone gets stabbed.

No more airplanes, that will stop another 911.

Rat Poison, nope can't buy it, some crazy old lady poisoned her old man.

Look at the countries that can't own guns. Does Saddam raping a daughter and taking movies to show the father do anything for the anti-gun nuts?

It would happen just once with my loved ones.

Does the violent history of England and Ireland testify that no lawful guns pays off?

How about a handful of Whites with guns controlling millions of Blacks (with stones) in Africa.

Wake up anti-gun people, read your history.

All my guns (collectively) have killed fewer people than Sen. Kennedy's car.

Let's start taking away cars, because they are doing much more damage to human life and property than guns, and you already have them registered and taxed.

Then to preserve the sanctity of human life, let's sterilize ***** teenagers that can't/won't support their children born out of wedlock.

Next will come cigarettes and booze.

Examples? Actually, no.

There are no examples of an armed citizenry having their Rights abrogated. But there are lots of examples of that happening to an unarmed citizenry.

I'm responding to the original post but not per se at the post or any one respondent.....There are points to be made for both side of the argument and I do not intend to argue either side... I just want to make a personel comment..... SCARRY!!!! down right SCARRY!!! when I listen to some people rant, it really scares me that they're carrying a gun....

was that people that owned guns were not giving any business to Pizza Hut because of their position on guns. Never mind working for them, just being a customer, they were boycotting Pizza Hut.

pizza anyway, and there are an endless number of other choices. The driver was lucky in the outcome of the robbery and the job situation, but that doesn't mean he should be denied the chance to defend himself. This is especially true in a dicey job like delivering pizzas.

you claim to be "ready to fire" on an armed opponent.

From reading other posts of yours you also claim to be "disabled". Not knowing your disability, I'm going to assume that it in someway affects your ability to "move quickly".

Do you feel confident that you would be able to "duck and shoot"?

Do you ever practice hitting a moving target while you are also moving?

Do you practice shooting popup targets?

In reply to: Questions

no claim to being disabled thats why i get social security at 55.
i cant duck to fast but i hit what i aim at.

and since most home break ins are within 10/15 ft ill hit the target.

and since the object im aiming at isnt a pop up i will survive.

and no i dont move while i shoot.

hopefully i will be near cover and have the time to duck but till it happens and i hope it never does, i wont know.

but i wont be a victim

I'm worried about some Casper Miltoast that feels that a gun is a great equalizer that allows him to push people around. Just like I worry about road rage with a 5000 pound bullet.
