Remember that on some motherboards this is a bios setting and only does that if you have the right RAM.
My AMD Athlon XP 2800+ is rated to 2.2 Ghz, according to a Googled site on the internet, but is currently running at 1.2GHZ. Does anyone know how to check for damage to the processor or whether it was underclocked, or is my info incorrect? I recently suffered a power outage with flickering power, and somehow my PSU was damaged despite my PC's being on a surge protector. I now suspect that the same has happened to my processor, but I would like to know if it is safe to clock it back up to 2.2Ghz...I've never done any overclocking.
