damage from misshift, overrev

Jun 8, 2009 8:33AM PDT

I misshifted from 2nd gear to 1st causing a massive but quick overrev to about 8000rpm on my 2008 Corolla S, now i have a spluttering idle and high-pitched ticking/knocking noise from the engine when reving, the engine still runs fine and i DONT feel any power-loss or vibration during reving, i did a OBD diagnostic and got a code for "4th cylinder missfire".

Im being told by some its a bent valve, and others say my car would not run or run extremely poorly with a bent valve.

Any suggestions?
