Question

D-Link DIR 615 Unable to connect my ultrabook with wifi rout

Mar 14, 2015 4:06AM PDT

I am having a strange problem with my home network. I am using D-Link DIR 615 WIFI router and our using a cable broadband service. Couple of Smart phones, Samsung Tablet, Lenovo Ideapad and a desk top computer is connected with that Network. How ever i am unable to connect my Toshiba U840 Ultra book with said Wifi router. It says no internet access every time i try to connect it over the wifi but if i use a Ethernet cable it works fine. I have upgrade software on my wifi router and on Ultrabook as well. But no use.

Answer
Doesn't sound strange at all.

Norton, other security suites block connections when they expire, there are "Hotspot Shields" that folk or malware installs so there's that.

It sounds like it connected fine with the router but it's one of the other issues. Not a WiFi router one.

D-Link DIR 615 Unable to connect my ultrabook with wifi rout

Thank you very much for the reply. I don't understand what is blocking internet services on my Ultra book.
1. I don't have installed Norton, I disabled Widows defender and recently installed Kaspersky Endpoint security 10.
2. I don't have any kind of Hotspot Shield installed on my system.
3. Yes it is connected with the WIFI router but if i try to access WIFI router settings (192.168.0.1) i am not able to do that.
4. I receive full bars of signal with message " NO INTERNET ACCESS "
5. If i use Ethernet cable internet works fine.
6. I have upgraded firmware of router and it doesn't make any difference.
7. I have updated driver's on my ultrabook but it doesn't make any difference as well.
8. If i connect to neighbors WIFI connection or any other connection its works fine, only this router giving problem.

1. Kap. It can do that.

Sorry but any security suite that does such ham fisted blocking is not something I'll advise on. Except its removal. Your choice of course.

2. It's more a category than an exact title. Sorry that I was unclear here.

3. The 192.168.0.1 is a sign something is blocking. Until you can do that, I'd start removing "protection" software until it's working. Nothing to protect if the network isn't working.

4. Agreed. Shows the connection but no internet.

5. Shows it's some WiFi issue. I wonder if you hard assigned IP addresses to the Ethernet. Hint? Don't do that. Unplug the ethernet and use DHCP or in Windows Speak, let windows manage that IP.

If you think it's this router it could be but item 5 may be the clue here. I can replicate this issue by hard assigning IP addressing on the ethernet. BLAMMO. WiFi fails, Ethernet works.
