Resolved Question

D-link 1320 Wifi Extender getting multiple IPs

Feb 4, 2015 5:06AM PST

Hello

I have a Belkin router and just bought a D-link wifi extender so that I get signal in my bedroom which is quite far from the router. The extender seemed to work for a while but then I noticed that I couldn't get on wifi at all. Looking in the router logs I could see that the D-link was constantly requesting the next available IP address. I tried it a few times and it does that until there are no IPs left in the DHCP pool.

Anyone know what might be causing this?

Thanks
Amy

Most likely too far from the router.

Wow, thanks for the info! I didn't know about the powerline option, it sounds much better. I will return my wifi extender and get one of those instead Grin

Glad you see the advantage.

This kit looks to be a hit to me as it does BOTH methods of extending. There is a limitation on powerline networking as it must be on the same phase (or side) of the usual 220V AC mains but given the system is pretty flexible you can try an adjacent room and get it done.
