Hi I am new here. President Obama and Congress are talking a lot about bringing a Cybersecurity bill to Congress to stop many major Cyberattacks that have been happening to this Country since October 3, 2014, especially the recent Sony Hack according to the FBI only from North Korean http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2014/12/did-north-korea-really-attack-sony/383973/ well Congress is now putting a bill together that would do little to have stopped the Sony hack and instead will destroy privacy rights online and empower NSA Spying. The bill was introduced last Friday by Democrat Congressman from Maryland Dutch Ruppersberger NSA's favorite Congressman and the name of that bill is CISPA or the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act. Under CISPA your ISP or Internet Service Provider regardless of contract and with immunity can now give away PRIVATE AND PERSONAL INFORMATION to the Government and can even sell your private and personal information to third parties without your knowledge of consent and even gets rid of the Freedom of Information act should you request it. What can your ISP give away, Your PRIVATE E-mails, text, online searches, online purchases including credit card numbers, financial information.
CISPA is very dangerous. As one online publication puts it, "Some in the government want to give the National Security Agency, a division of the Defense Department, and the largest and most powerful spy agency in the world, the power to collect Internet use records. Under such a scheme, Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, Facebook and every other company that operates on the Internet could share our private information with the military for cybersecurity purposes. Once the government has its hands on the information, there might not be meaningful limits to how it could be used, how long the government could keep the information, or with whom it could share the information. All existing privacy protections would be swept aside in the name of cybersecurity, opening up medical records, private emails, financial information - anything - to prying military eyes. In the name of cybersecurity, the NSA would be able to compile massive quantities of private data, even about people with nothing to do with any wrongdoing. All without a warrant, proper oversight or reasonable limits."
Not only that in the wake of the Edward Snowden leaks CISPA gives massive power to the NSA. Please read these two links: http://piratetimes.net/exclusive-a-sneak-peek-at-cispa-2015/ & http://gizmodo.com/cispa-the-awful-anti-privacy-law-that-wont-prevent-ano-1678561060 You can watch this Youtube video as well in regards to CISPA and how it would do little to stop the Sony Hack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0VXcStT7cU
The internet and its users need privacy online. Your e-mails and text messages should not have there 4th amendment rights violated and CISPA allows violations of your rights. Its illegal unless under court order for Government to listen to are landline phone conversations. CISPA should not rump privacy laws in the name of Security. Sadly now President Obama favors CISPA http://www.zdnet.com/article/white-house-just-endorsed-controversial-cispa-measures-two-years-after-veto-threat/
I am asking people to please first sign this petition http://www.cispaisback.org/
Then e-mail your House of Representatives www.house.gov and US Senators www.senate.gov or call the House and Senate at 202-224-3121 and tell your 2 Senators and Congressman NO TO PRO NSA CYBERSPYING BILL CISPA
Your internet usage needs to remain private. Government should not violate that right. Keep the internet open and free. OPPOSE CISPA
