According to Sony, their software does not work with Win98.
If your computer supports USB (universal serial buss) you can buy a USB card reader for the Sony memory stick.
These card readers cost about $20 and you do not need the Sony software. The card reader will come with Win98 drivers or it will tell you where to download Win98 drivers.
Your computer will see the Memory Stick as being a new hard drive.
You put the Memory Stick in the card reader and then use Windows Explorer to look at the Memory Stick and you can download the pictures to your computer.
I use a card reader on Windows XP, so that I don't have to install the camera makers software.
I just got caught up in the Black Friday Target rush and purchased a new Sony Cybershot DSC-s500. I just read that it doesn't support the Windows 98 OS. Does anyone know of a driver or workaround that I can use to install on my system to get around this? My Win98 runs really well. I really don't want to have to return it but I will if necessary.
