Cyberlink DVD 6

Jul 18, 2007 3:11AM PDT

I have noticed recently that I am getting more and more emails, with an advert for cyberlink power dvd 6.
The advert comes up upon the attempt to open the email. I can't do anything else with the email as the advert wants me to activate the program.
Any one else experience this? Thanks, Bill

Don't open the emails.

Sorry, I know that sounds silly, but every time you open an email to read it, you can be sending back a message to the sender that your email address is active. This is how spammers work. They send out thousands of emails to constructed email addresses and see if any get through.

Are these emails from a known source, eg a relative, friend, or known organisation you have signed up to? If not, delete them without opening them.

Even having the email contents displayed in the preview pane you are opening the email, so I would advise you do not use the preview pane, (usually a setting in View > Layout).

Don't open email attachments from unknown sources. They can harbor viruses. Don't trust attachments even from known sources. Save the attachment to a temporary place first, then scan it with your anti-virus scanner. Known sources include relatives and friends who quite often do not know they have virus infected computers.

If you happen to receive an E-Card greeting claiming to be sent to you from a friend courtesy of American Greeting Cards.com don't open that one up or click on any links in it either.
