CWSHREDDER

Feb 11, 2004 10:42PM PST

WindowsXP Home Edition, Other than reinstalling the OS is it possible to get SFC.EXE to work again by another means, when I try to use it all I get is a screen that flashes for an instant then its gone. I have used it before and it worked. I use CWSHREDDER and one of the recent updates did some file damasge, such as rendering Notepad and also the sound icon in the systray unusable. notepad was easy to fix and I never did have the problem with sound like others did. Thanks for any assistance. Frank

Did you manage to see what was on the screen ? How did you "use it" ? Via start-run ? SFC.EXE itself may be damaged. Replace it with a copy copied from the XP CD ?

I did a system restore and that worked, however if anyone knows another way I would appreciate the fix. Thanks, Frank

Hi Papa Echo yes I used Start/Run, I thought I could copy it from the OS CD but I,m not sure about the command to do it.

There is no need to use a command line--just 'paste' it to the Windows\System32 folder-you will be asked whether you want to replace the existing file...
