Customize Tool Bar Question

Dec 16, 2003 7:27AM PST

HP Pavalion a367c, XP home edition, ie 6.0:
When I customize my explorer tool bar to "show text labels" (along with other customizations) they always reset to the default view after a reboot. How can I keep my customized view settings?

Thanks! I'll reserve this for future reference for now. I don't like messing with the registry unless absolutely necessary and this falls under the heading of minor inconvience.

After you've made your changes go to Tools | Folder Options | View tab.

Click: Apply to All Folders.

Now the changes should stay when you reboot.

My problem is with the ie 6.0 view, not windows explorer. Unless I'm missing something, your suggestion isn't available with the browser??

Did you try.. Right-click and check the option "Lock the Toolbars"?

Also try my earlier suggestion as Internet Explorer & Windows Explorer are inter-related.

I just tried both suggestions without success. I'm thinking that this may be a Hewlett Packard issue, not XP or ie 6.0.

Try this...
Dec 16, 2003 8:28AM PST

1. Quit all programs that are running.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.
If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below):
* Shdocvw.dll
* Msjava.dll
* Actxprxy.dll
* Oleaut32.dll
* Mshtml.dll
* Browseui.dll
* Shell32.dll (Windows XP and Windows 2000 only)

Now test your settings again.
