I have found that the Apple Support is far and away better than a lot of the others out there.
Dell has gone downhill, rapidly, for a number of years now. Take a look at the poll, can't remember who commissioned it, regarding customer satisfaction for Support. Apple came out on top, again.
I deal with Dell on a daily basis, and am not impressed with their support. Their Business support is "lightly" better than their Consumer support, which "reverse blows"
The main reason the Dell was half the price of the Mac, cheap and nasty stuff inside it. That, and the fact that it is half as good as the iBook.
Check the specs on that discontinued machine! Celeron, small, slow HD, shared video, disgusting reviews. Dell suckers you in with the $300 rebates.

Whats your guys opinion overall regarding Apple Care or Mac Customer Support: sales, delivery, and tech?
My wife and I bought a Dell I6000 laptop for my daughter for Christmas, exactly one month ago. It has yet to be delivered even though Dell promised it by Dec 5. I can't begin to tell you what h___ we went through with customer support (which in this case was in India and Panama).
Hopefully I have a replacement coming my way but according to the Dell Community Forum, I am not alone, and some of the posts wwere real horror stories.
I used Apple Care when my logic board went out and the service was beyond outstanding AND there was no thick accent. Was I just lucky or is this the norm?
The hardest thing I had to do was locate the phone number, which in my case wasn't all that easy.
BTW, it was my wife who ordered the Dell. It cost half that of a Mac. But I like my Mac (its a little old and slow, but so am I).
