Custom built PC boots up sometimes and turns off most times

Aug 1, 2016 8:47PM PDT

OK I recently built a Gaming PC and as I finish building it I went ahead and plugged the
Power Supply into the wall and nothing happens I waited bit then I did it again and I saw a white light come on my GPU then it booted up for like 1 second and shut off and it did that for like 2-3 times then and the final time it did it stayed on for like 5 seconds. The next day around 5-7 PM I booted it up then I saw a red light on my GPU and then the fans started spinning and everything the me with my idiotic self turned it off and true to turn it back on and it won't boot up again. Please help! My guess i's that the power supply has problems because each time I turn plug in and turn on the power supply nothing happens not even the power supply fan turned on the spec and parts I have are

CPU Intel core i5 6600k

GPU Asus GeForce GTX 970 Strix

MoBo Gigabyte Z170X UD3

CPU Cooler hyper evo 212

Power supply Cooler Master 750W gold certified semi modular power supply

RAM Hyper X fury 8GB 4x2 DDR4

HDD WD cavier blue 1TB

SSD OCZ 120GB

Case Phanteks Eclipes P400

I have every necessary cable connected like the power switch reset switch and HDD led and 24 pin connector and all the things that are used to power the pc and stuff please help if I don't get help I might have to buy new stuff or take it for a check up. Please helpp

Make it smaller

You don't need.

Hdd.
Ssd.
Gpu.
Ram.

Remove/unplug that stuff.

Now try powering it up.

Keep shrinking.

We don't need a case either.

Explainer: I find a lot of iffy systems with one too many mounting posts shorting out the back of the motherboard. To work this one we start very small. Just the motherboard on cardboard and the PSU. That should power up and stay up or there is an issue with those parts.

Power

Psu+mobo+cpu/hsf on a piece of cardboard.

Nothing else connected.

Short the power switch pins on the mobo for a second with a metal tool.

If it won't power up your down to 3 parts.

I stripped down everything and nothing happens all I hear is click....click. ....click....click that's it and when I used the pin that is shaped like a U and put 1 end in to the green wire and the other end into a black 1... the power supply turns on and 1 fan starts spinning and the less light up

IT might be the PSU

I have a feeling that PSU is the problem it's a 750W and it's from cooler Master maybe it's just broken should I get someone to check up on the pc or shold I just go ahead and buy new psu

When I did it and boot it up again with everything in the case a white led or light showed up on the gpu and everything started up but the power led didn't show up at all

That power led is optional.

If that's all that's wrong with a PC, I might decline to fix it.

Had me think you had fixed it except for a LED.

So back to least number of parts, no case and work your way up.
