Laptop touchpad's are a known issue and I had no-end of problems with mine on my Packard Bell laptop. I was forever deleting anything I had just typed, or refreshing browser pages, or submitting unfinished posts, because I was brushing over the pad.
I moved to a USB mouse but still had the same issues until I disabled the touchpad.
I don't know if this is the same issues as yours, but that may be a first step to try. With the USB mouse connected, see if you can disable the touchpad. With my PB there is a touch switch right next to the pad that I use to turn the pad on or off, but if you don't have that, see if you can disable it in the Control Panel.

This is my first post so please excuse me if this is in the wrong section.
I'm having some issues with my cursor/input devices. The cursor is incredibly shaky, then unresponsive, then goes super sensitive and opens anything that is anywhere near the cursor occasionally. This happens whether I'm using my touchpad, graphics tablet or usb mouse. I'm at a bit of a loss as most things I've found on forums are to do with one of the input devices not working, but it's fine when they use a different one but that's not the case here.
I've tried virus checks, Malwarebytes, reinstalling drivers and I don't know where to go from here. Can anyone help?
I have an Acer 5720 running Vista 6.0 (Build 6.001 SP 1).
