Question

Cursor Goes Into The Wild Blue Yonder

May 1, 2011 12:38AM PDT

Windows XP Pro. Service pack 3. Windows crashed and I had to take it
into the shop. Now fixed, when I move the mouse, the cursor will stop at
the edge of the screen on the top, bottom, and left. But on the right
side of the screen, now it keeps going forever. That's annoying because
now it's much harder to find the top right X to close a program. Any
help? Thanks!

Answer
Take another look at Display Properties.

My bet is that "Extend my desktop" is checked.

I bet the repair shop added another monitor to the system and forgot to change the settings back afterwards.

Right click the Desktop, select Properties, then explore the options under the Settings tab. If two monitors are highlighted, click the one marked 2 then remove the option at the bottom to "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor".
