Curious Anomaly...?

Dec 12, 2003 5:19PM PST

I recently finished building my new computer and am using it to write this message. So far, it seems to be working perfectly. All I've installed on this machine has been that which is necessary to make the hardware work, Windows XP, and a few trusted programs. However, I noticed something today I cannot explain and am mildly concerned about. In my 'Program Files' subdirectory are two folders I cannot account for nor seem to get rid of: 'microsoft frontpage' and 'xerox'. Each has a few subfolders but is otherwise empty. Both folders are marked ?Read-only? no matter how many times I uncheck the box. I?ve tried to go about deleting both folders a number of different ways both in and out of windows, but am always denied access in some form or another. I?m certain I did not make these enigmatic folders and am fairly confident none of the software I installed did either. So, my question is, does anyone have any idea where they might have come from and perhaps, how I might get rid of them?? Is this some sort of blasted Microsoft thing? Do I have a virus? Perhaps an outright intruder? Any thoughts or advice would be most welcome and appreciated. Thanx!
