Curious about a minor annoyance

Feb 21, 2006 4:55AM PST

While on the desktop, I can place my cursor over a taskbar or System tray icon, and get a small "balloon" telling me about the program. Lately, these balloons are appearing behind the taskbar - and blocking the info. I also observed this on a friends computer the other day. No big deal, but I am curious as to what causes this, and if there is a setting or patch to fix it. ThanksHappy

It's just one of those little focus bugs that's probably damn near the bottom of the list of things to be fixed.

Damn_machine, Windows XP sometimes hides the tool tips behind the Taskbar. Sometimes restarting your computer will allow you to see the tool tips. Another possible fix would be to go to the link below, scroll down to Line 321 (left column) and click on ''Tool Tips Hidden Behind Taskbar'' to download a reg file fix. Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt.

Files from the link above are safe to download & run.

at the next restart, the "tool tips" were back on top - strange. I guess at times certain system functions just don't load correctly. I'll check out the link to the Reg file fix. Thanks.
