Things you didn't try:
1. External keyboard (easy!)
2.New internal keyboard (more work and more expensive) if the external keyboard is fine.
3.Back to factory conditions (unless that's what you mean with "refreshing", but system restore after going back to factory conditions is somewhat futile, so rather strange).
4. New motherboard if both the internal and external keyboards fail in factory conditions.

Hi guys,
A problem with my Left CTRL key has been plaguing me for almost half a year now. It'll act like a toggle-key. When I need to undo (CTRL+Z), I have to press CTRL, then release CTRL, then press Z. It will not work if CTRL is not released.
However, other keyboard shortcuts such as CTRL + Y and CTRL + C, CTRL + V work just fine. More intriguingly, the Right CTRL+Z works normally. Only the left one doesn't.
I've tried many different things:
Pressing the CTRL keys twice to "unstick" them
Pressing CTRL + ALT + FN all at once
Pressing and holding down both CTRL keys simultaneously
Removing the keyboard cap and cleaning the inside button receiver
Taking my entire laptop apart, detaching the keyboard, cleaning both parts.
Using ShortKeys to map the left control key to the right control key
Refreshing my computer, System restore
Of course, making sure ToggleKeys, StickKeys, etc. are all turned off.
For a period of time, I was able to bypass this fault by holding down both CTRL keys, pressing and holding down Z as well, waiting 10-15 seconds, releasing Z and then both CTRL keys simultaneously. This voodoo method recently stopped working. Being a programmer, I absolutely need the CTRL+Z shortcut. Undo is love, Undo is life.
Also, because I have my priorities straight, having that CTRL key broken makes my gaming life very unsatisfactory.
Any ideas would be appreciated!! Thanks!!! <3
