Crunchy Conservative?

Apr 28, 2006 12:21PM PDT

I understand that there is a book about 'Crunchy Conservatives' but I have not seen it or read it. The label caught my eye when it appeared in the latest print edition of Christianity Today (sorry, no link - they haven't put the article on their web site ... yet). I'm still not sure I understand what the term is supposed to mean.

The term came up in an interesting (to me) interview. Probably the most memorable line was something like:
"Republicans are the party of greed, and Democrats are the party of lust" Obvious hyperbole and caricature, but I think it's pretty much on target.

But I digress.

Does anybody have a simple explanation of what a 'Crunchy Conservative' is supposed to be?

Just for a big of humor, I'll add that when I first did a Speakeasy search on Crunchy Conservative one of the 'hits' was something like:
'Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup'
