Technically, YES it is. The CRT was invented back in the 1930's so there has been a lot time and money invested in it's development.
The directview CRTs seem to still be out there. But the Rear projector CRTs seem to on an endagnered list. Sony has dropped them form thier product line.
Panasonic, JVC,Samsung,Hitachi,Phillips, RCA still have them.
Now if you start reading the specs of the new stuff ( LCD, PLD, Plasma, etc)You will see that most of the ones on the market will do 720p or maybe a little better.
A few (very few) will do 1080i native and they are BIG$$$$$$$. All the others must downscan a 1080i signal to 720p.
Now guess what, the lowly CRTs can do 1080i NATIVE.
And Most of them reatil for under $2000. So go check them out. John
I have noticed a few people saying that CRT is still the best technology for picture quality. I wanted to ask what models or brands they were referring to. These big monsters wouldn't be my first choice due to the weight and size but I do have the room to house one if I find one I like more than DLP or LCD/RP. I was also wondering what the best resolution these TV offer now that the bar is at the 1080p mark. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
