especially the first, and he did amazing things for Aussie tourism. But his personal life has been a negative example for decades.

.... movies, and some TV commercials.

I reckon he had residual rights for VHS>CD>DVD>TV for his movies.

The article didn't say how much he owes in taxes, but he might want to figure if it is less than what his legal costs are to fight it.

He was best known down under as a talk show host

and Tourist Board favorite. That got him the money and clout to make Dundee I. Dumped his wife for his co-star; made Dundee II. Moved on to heavy drinking and being an Aussie National Treasure. Living off the residuals and reputation, as you suggest.
