Critical Update for MS IE...Check MS Downloads for your computer..

Feb 2, 2004 5:29AM PST

Marianna in the Virus forum just posted info:
http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6132-0.html?forumID=32&threadID=10392&messageID=119538

I had checked MS Downloads earlier this AM and it was not listed. It is right now and I clicked on MS Downloads and for my WinXP IE6 SP1 it said,

".....an attacker could run programs on your computer while you view a Web page. This affects all computers with IE installed (even if you don't run IE as your Web brouser."

This update is for other other MS Windows operating systems besides WinXP from what I understand..

I had two critical updates there (OS-ME)..downloaded both and now I have a shortcut
Feb 2, 2004 6:46AM PST

on my desktop.
MICROSOFT XML 4.0 PARSER SDK
I'm in the process of hopefully finding why this shortcut appeared after downloading the two updates.

I got that a while back for 98SE. The shortcut is only the help file explaining what the parser is for, basically it translates XML instructions. The parser SDK installation itself is an update of the original v3.x already contained in our versions of Windows, to cover a security vulnerability.

Dale, I hate to admit how dumb I am about things like this, but I am. Not only do I

have the shortcut on my desktop, but it's now also listed Start/Programs. Why would it show up in programs? I know I can delete the desktop shortcut, but should I keep it in programs?

Thanks for your help,
Lee

You can trust Gates' mob to mess things up and issue a stream of updates, each one adding to the chaos. Devil

Well, MS OS & IE are used by the majority of the people of the world. Don't you think if for instance Lenux was the majority OS and Netscape/Opera/(forgot the name of the other browser) the 'hackers/crackers' would not try to bring them down.
