Creative Zen Touch or Sony nw-hd5

Jun 15, 2005 5:13PM PDT

I'am thinking to buy either zen touch or hd5, which one is better. I have some questions

ZEN:
-Can I change battery in Zen?
-Is it too big to carry in jeans pocket?
-Is it long lasting?

hd5:
-Does it support mp3 good enough? I have read that equalizator does not work whit mp3's?
-Is there some problems whith hd5?

Which one is stroger.

hd5

I've been debating this question for weeks now, and I think I am really leaning towards the Sony. I haven't actually owned either, yet, so I'm not really much help.

I'm not sure if the Creative's battery is replacable, but I know for sure the Sony is. Plus, the Sony is smaller and sleeker (although the old sony hd3 was much more attractive than the hd5).

The only thing I'm dreading is dealing with the dreadful software that everyone keeps complaining about...but I'm figuring since it can store 20GB, I won't have to deal with the software that much once I get everything i've got on it.

But I could be wrong, but we'll see.

HD5 and Sonicstage
Jun 18, 2005 3:18AM PDT

I have the HD5, love it, although it has developed the crack between the directional buttons that people are talking about. I am quite concerned about that issue because crack developed with only about 12 hours of extremely gentle use. Since others are also experiencing this issue, I am wondering if this will be a major problem eventually.

As far as your concern about Sonicstage software. Personally, I wouldn't use Sonicstage as a reason not to buy. I've been using for a while because I also own a Sony MD player. I think the software is easy to use. The only problem I consistently experience regards the connect music store. Every couple of weeks I can no longer view my account or use the service and have to go in and clear my cookies, internet files, and reset explorer. That is a bit of a pain since then all the other websites I visit no longer recognize me. But as a music management tool, I have no complaints - once your music is loaded into Sonicstage, transferring to the HD5 is very quick and easy.
