When does it come out? Also what's the difference between a hard drive player and a flash player?

release date:

I e-mailed Creative about this, and they said it should be out some time this week. I'm not sure if that's right, but look for it before the holiday season.

difference of players:

flash players - usually have less capacity and run on AA/AAA batteries or rechargeable. Have no moving parts, making them ideal for jogging and working out. Usually smaller in size.

Hard Drive - as it says, these players contain a hard drive, much like the one on computers. Just smaller. These are for people who are maybe DJ's, or make long commutes, and therefore want all or most of their music with them. Almost always have a built-in rechargeable battery, usually not replaceable. Has a moving hard drive, so should be handled with care and should not be bumped or jolted.

hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. Just two more questions:

1) I just want an mp3 playing to listen to music when I'm away from home. So I won't be exercising with it or anything. So should I get a hard drive player? Also, what are the pros/cons to hard drive and flash players.

2) Should I get the Ipod Nano (heard it has a ****** battery and scratches easily) or the Zen Micro Photo?

1.) If you're away from home, Hard Drive is the way to go. Now it depends on what kind of hard drive. Micro-hard drive: 4-6 GB players, with the ZMP, now 8. contain a moving hard disc, but are smaller in size and now it seems to be the standard to have a use replaceable battery. According to Creative's website, the ZMP will come with an extra battery. Charge em both up, you have 30 hours of music in your pocket. Cons generally include that with extra settings(ex: backlight, equalizer) tends to drain the battery. they have shorter battery lives than many good flash players since the hard disc uses a lot of juice. some people also dont like the size. also, if you drop it, you're screwed. the disc will most likely get scratched and unable to be read.

2)Most iPod's don't have a spectacular battery life. I personally don't see the point in buying a Nano when you can get a 5GB zen micro, which is much more useful, for the same price as a 2gb nano. Nano's are stylish though, no doubt about that.

All ipods(except the Mini's) scratch easily. that's why cases are all over the place. the thing with the nano is some people say the scratches are messing up the player, so that might be a problem.

I personally am planning on getting the ZMP, but I'd recommend doing research, reading some user opinions, then making a decision based on your choice.

Best of luck to ya!

BTW!!!! ZMP = Zen Micro Photo

You've been extremely helpful! Thanks a lot. Is the ZMP available in Canada?
