Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer

Aug 9, 2010 3:58AM PDT

I am so frustrated with this sound card and it's drivers. When I was using Vista it worked fine but now that I installed my Windows 7 upgrade and new Creative drivers I get a lot of drop out. I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled several times and it never gets any better though that is what Creative suggested. I can't even find paid technical support from Creative.

Can anybody help me? I have a very nice set of Altec Lansing THX speakers that are not living up to their wonderful potential.

Thank you.

No Good

Thank you very much for the assist but I have been through this already with no success. It seems the only way I can get help is to pay for it and I am willing to do so with a Creative Support Rep if there is such a service. Their website is nothing but runarounds and confusion to me.

Let me share my Windows 7 audio drop out issue.
Aug 9, 2010 6:41AM PDT

I clean installed 7 and it was doing the oddest things. Seemingly random pauses and audio drop outs.

Finally a clue revealed itself when I installed CDBURNERXP (which is Windows 7 compatible) and a mysterious message appeared about not finding any CD/DVD recorders. A little google and I find that the Intel storage manager is not an optional component. Not only did I need the Intel Chipset driver package but this other thing.

Sadly your story left out the make, model of the host machine so I'll stop here.

Interesting

Hi Bob.

I have a Dell PC that's fairly high end, that I had built in July of 2009.

I replaced the sound card to enhance those THX speakers.

If I need to download something please let me know.

Thank you.

Sadly I can't help you further.

This is all I have about the PC. It's a Dell.

I did my best to share the story and what I found but can't be tell if it applies to your machine. If only a model number was supplied or even the chipset I would be good enough.

It may be weeks till I visit this forum as I leave on travel so if you want to alert me you posted the missing details, email me via my profile.

On google you can discover more about CDBURNERXP WINDOWS 7 NO COMPATIBLE DRIVES to learn the title and more. Intel has renamed their app so you may have to divine the title today.
