Creative Disc Detector Autoplay feature doesn't work

Dec 14, 2003 8:03AM PST

I'm trying to help a friend who has a Pentium 3 Windows XP Home Edition with Creative Disc Detector.

The autoplay feature doesn't work on the CD-ROM and CD-RW drives. I have tried the following:

1. deleted a file called Mediadet.log - a component of WinAmp which is known to stop autoplay on Creative Disc Detector.

2. downloaded the Creative Disc Detector Patch from its website which is supposed to fix the autoplay feature.

3. tried Autoplay with Disc Detector enabled and disabled

None of these have worked. I would appreciate any help.

In helping a friend I can't help but remember how my cousin-a guy with mental problems who's family won't admit it,who is an idiot but a genius at messing up computers- screwed around with my old computer and god knows what he did with it. I since updated the Windows 98 to ME but the computers performance especially speed was never what it was before he came. Is there any equivalent of SFC on ME?

I believe it also works for ME.

I've run it successfully for Win98SE.

Insert the WinME CD in the drive and start | run: SFC
I did not type "scannow" for Win98 and it worked.

Give it a shot.
