I install Microsoft's Word Viewer. Then I know when I've done something that doesn't work. Also, I tend to send out .RTF and .PDF to be sure it survives. The PDF is less likely to be edited by others.
I don't have Microsoft Word. I have Openoffice.org (2.1, "OOo") Writer. I did a nice resume layout in OOo. Used a bunch of little page-anchored frames to get everything where I wanted it on the page. The MS-Word users I sent it to told me none of that formatting survived the export to MS-Word 2000. I'm told MS-Word didn't have frames until 2003. (?)
What's the right way to break the page into a bunch of little text flows that work in the older versions of MS-Word? Tables with invisible borders?
