Creating an online store

Hello Everyone,
In desperate need of some advice please.

I want to create an online thrift store, but for local purchases only. Purchases would either be picked up or delivered in person. I have an endless supply of antiques, collectibles, clothes, shoes, electronics...etc., so I don't want just a one-time sale, but a "store." Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Why not Etsy or Amazon?

I find a lot of folk try to skip the usual outlets.

Build A Site

If you want to have your own online store try building a website. There are ecommerce website builder like shopify, bigcommerce, wix, woocommerce, etc. And hire a web developer and digital marketer to help you buid your ecommerce site.

When it comes to online stores there are many options that you can choose from
You can either go with online marketplaces like eBay, craigslist, gumtree etc
or you can choose to make your own e-commerce site with Shopify or Squarespace
My personal preference is where I can not just post my Ads and display my products but I can also start my online store. This helps me be in touch with the customers and identify their needs and provide them with what they actually like and not to forget that they provide a free platform to post these Ads and maintain my store.

Also while doing this I also have my Social Media accounts which I maintain to let people know about my Brand and to give an extra boost to my promotions

That site seems to restrict itself to India and is useless for all other countries. Since we're an international forum that's certainly relevant. Moreover, the OP has a local store, for personal delivery or pickup. Then having a site that targets all of India makes no sense at all.

So your advice seems to be rather bad.

Why not start with Instagram first. You will understand your customers, their needs and wants. Then if it goes well, you can build the website and make a "store".

Shopify is the best way

Shopify is the best way to start your own ecommerce business, after that in order to target the local audience you need to take the help of digital marketers as well.

Depends on how much time you have or want to spend.

Since you only want this to be local, I would suggest building a facebook page - then using an established online store / program that lets you list products. If you build your own site from scratch say using wordpress, you are going to spend a considerable amount of time just to get local sales. I think pinterest lets you list products for sale at this point. With any online presence, you are still going to get people asking you to ship the products. And remember that adding all the products and descriptions is going to take a lot of time. I had a friend that had a website for her pirate clothing store, and it got to be too much for her to run the store and the website at the same time.

Shopify Store

Shopify is best. You can implement facebook pixel app too in your Shopify store to target the right audience it will make your work easier. I have also started the Shopify store and implemented Trackify app, all going well.

You can create own online store with the help of a web design and development company from where you can sale out your products online and within you can grow your business from local to national.

You can use other third party platform to sale out your products, like, Amazong, ebay craiglist, but nevertheless, I will suggest a web development company who can give you a way to explore your business worldwide.
