General discussion

Creating an install disk.

Feb 12, 2009 10:09PM PST

I have XP Pro and wonder if there's a way for me to burn a *.exe installation program to a DVD making it an autorun installation disk. I have ImgBurn, and Infra Recorder, if those would do it.

Thanks,

~Dave

This is simple.

Copy the XP Pro CD with IMGBURN to another CD.

Sorry but while there web pages about adding more to this install CD and even conversion to DVD the bottom line is that it's a fool's errand. Why do I write that? The hours invested in this ends with something no one can support.

Stick with the tried and true install methods.

The installation file i was interested in using is:

PS_AIO_04_C6300_Net_Full_Win_enu_120_216.exe

Now, when I double click on that it begins the installation start-up. But I just thought it would be nice to have an autorun disk to install this in the future.

I had considered extracting this .exe file to a folder using WinRaR, and then just copying all the files and folders which result onto a DVD, and see if that works. But I just thought I'd ask here first.

If there is a procedure for doing this, I could use it to make an installation disk for any .exe file in the future.

Thanks again,

~Dave
