Creating a Interactive Display

i would like to create in interactive display. something where there is an image with multiple parts of that be clicked on. when you cilck on one it will play an animation and bring up a new page with another picture and some text. i assume i can use flash or java but dont know how to do it. any help would be good

It's not necessary to use flash or java. To get a greater audience limit yourself to html and javascript. There are many good books about both.
